Test for G7 SS on Thursday/Friday

September 29, 2008

Use all of your Chapter 3 Study guides.  Study all the terms you find in the file below.  Know the life of Mohammad, especially the dates I told you. You do not have to know all the names in Chapter 3, Lesson 3–just know the basic things that happened to split up Muslims.

In our review class on Wednesday, we will review the following terms in a four round competition. These words may also appear on your test in the last class this week:  islam-terms-matching-game-quiz1

Study Guide Sheet for the G6 SS Test

September 12, 2008

For the test on Tuesday, you need to study the following things on the following sheets:

Know the different skulls on MAKE COMPARISONS YOURSELF.

Know ALL the facts about “Lucy” and all the other hominids except for Neanderthals and Homo sapiens (Cro-Magnons) that are found in both UNCOVERING CLUES TO OUR PAST (Part 1 and Part 2). Remember there are two sheets!

Know the order that the hominids appear on the timeline: Lucy, Homo habilis, Homo erectus/Homo ergaster, Homo Heidelbergensis, Neanderthals, Homo sapiens. You do not have to memorize the exact dates because there are not always “exact” dates in the study of prehistory. Just know the order that the hominids come in and the other details about them like toolmaking ability, etc.

Know who/what “Lampang Man” was.

Know the basics facts—the “Archaeological Findings”—about Homo habilis, Homo erectus, and Homo Heidelbergensis in CHAPTER 4, SKILL LESSON, STUDY GUIDE (the backside of UNCOVERING CLUES TO OUR PAST). Only study the hominids I told you to study! This test does not focus on Neanderthals or Cro-Magnons, but you will need to know the order in which they appear and the meaning or reason behind their names.

Know the meaning of every hominid name or the reason behind each hominid name.

If you have any questions, see me on Monday! Good luck!
